Nina Lee: the Southbank dress

Ahhhhh I can now understand why so many of you out there raved about the Nina Lee  patterns.

Thank you NinaLee for creating a pattern that is so lovely! The finished dress fits well, is super amazingly comfortable  and it is safe to say that I am going to make several others using different fabrics.

I decided to use this cable knit jersey from Higgs & Higgs in black: I loved Amanda‘s toaster sweater look and decided that this would be good for the dress. I like the alternative rows of thick and thin leaves

I am a size 12 and followed that pattern… at times, I thought I was not going to be able to fit into it but it turns out the fit is super comfy.

The pictures are not the best (sorry) and I think I could do a size smaller so it would fit more snuggly 🙂

I absolutely love the length of the sleeves (which are long enough – woohoo)

Since I do not have a serger, I used zigzag stitching the whole way through for the main pattern stitching but also ran a zigzag stitch along the edge of the knit fabric so it did not fray.

Chuffed to bits.

I have some Polka Moon (a navy jersey fabric with white dots) and I am thinking this could be a fun dress for spring…

Next, I will try and get new pictures of the dress that are more flattering 🙂
